Experts from EU countries that will take part in the workshop on 2-3 July

Founded in 1988, DFKI today is one of the largest non-profit contract research institutes in the field of innovative software technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods. DFKI is focusing on the complete cycle of innovation - from world-class basic research and technology development through leading-edge demonstrators and prototypes to product functions and commercialization.

Pierre-Yves DANET, France Telecom - Orange Labs
Pierre-Yves DANET is a graduate of a High French engineer school, he has been involved in many ISDN standardisation activities before taking in charge Home services development within France Telecom R&D. He has participated to many collaborative projects (Eurescom, Celtic, FP4, FP6, …) bringing its competencies on home services and home platforms. He is the France Telecom delegate to NEM, the European technology platform in charge of auidiovisual/telecom convergence and is appointed as the vice chair in charge of the strategy and the editor of the X-ETP future Internet SRA.
Dr. Gert Jervan, Department of Computer Engineering Tallinn University of Technology
Dr. Gert Jervan is a senior research fellow at the Department of Computer Engineering and a steering board member of the Centre for Integrated Electronic Systems and Biomedical Engineering.He joined TTÜ in 2005 after receiving his Ph.D. degree from Linköping University, Sweden at the same year. His main research interests include test and diagnostics of digital systems, fault tolerance, reliability and dependability, system-level design, and design optimization issues for novel submicron architectures.
He belongs to the management committee of the Estonian centre of excellence in research CEBE (Centre for Integrated Electronic Systems and Biomedical Engineering) and is one of the coordinators of the EU FP7 REGPOT project CREDES (Centre of Research Excellence in Dependable Embedded Systems). Since 2006 he is a member of the Estonian Science Foundation's Expert Commission for Physical Sciences and Engineering.
Dr. Gert Jervan speaks Russian and is interested in recruiting PhD/post Doc students.
Giles BRANDON, BSc MSc MBA (Oxon), Principal Consultant Intelligentsia Consultants Luxembourg
His experience of ICT, technology transfer, RDI policy and EECA includes:
• Co-ordinator of two FP6 projects and one INTAS project that, collectively, have researched and benchmarked the national innovation systems and national innovation policies in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine (FP6 BRUIT, FP6 RIPKA and INTAS SCRIPTS);
• Tech-transfer expert who enabled Ukrainian aerospace organisations to join 3 FP6 aeronautics projects - ALCAS, SENARIO and MULFUN - attracting 400k+ euros of funding (Tacis Bistro);
• Journalist and data collection expert for DG INFSO’s IST Results news service. Wrote investors’ features and gathered information from 100’s of IST projects;
• Tech-transfer expert who provided technology audit and business plan training to Siberian R&D institutions and SMEs. Audited 30 projects and developed 3 business plans (TACIS Bistro);
• Proposal writing expert who supported the Institute of Micro-Technologies, Bucharest, to win 1.1m euros funding to develop a Centre of Excellence in RF- and Optical MEMS (FP7 REGPOT) Giles' consultancy work is backed up by successful product development experience with Siemens (MRI scanners, 1992-1995) and General Motors/Delphi Automotive Systems (A/C systems, 1995-2000)
Mr. Iakovos Delioglanis, Q-PLAN North Greece
He has 13 years of professional experience most of them in ICT and consulting companies (Q-PLAN N.G, NOISIS, INTRACOM, ALTEC). He is has considerable
experience as Project Manager in FP6 & FP7 SSAs (PLATON+, HAGRID, PLATON, etc). He has also long experience in the implementation of EU funded R&D IST projects within FP5 & FP6. Within them he was responsible for analyzing market trends and competition aiming at the elaboration of feasibility studies and business plans. His experience also concerns pilot operation and evaluation of e-business applications. The last 3 years he works for the Q-PLAN NG Development Dpt.
Mr.Apostolos Vontas,Q-PLAN North Greece
His past experiencewas related to research in the University of Patras, in renewable sources of energy (1996-1998) and his current job position is project manager in the Research Programmes Division of ALTEC. Since 2000, he has scientifically supported but also coordinated a series of projects in relation to industrial and environmental informatics, for the provision of new, innovative services and products. His experience, also include the development of competitive and market analysis, business and deployment plans, for the actual exploitation of research results. He has participated and organized a series of workshops and business events with a recent paradigm, the scientific organization of two business events and specific support actions on the FP7 for SE Asia. He was a member of the scientific team for the provision of a study directly to the DG Information Society, on measuring the impact of the ICT R&D on the Innovation system of the regions and currently he is coordinating a “Study on the potential of the Living Labs approach including its relation to experimental facilities for future internet related technologies”.
